   Chart 3: Total Employment, 1969-1999

Chart 3 highlights employment in Albany County. Employment is one of the most commonly used measures of health in a community. It gives a quick snap shot of the percentage of the population working and whether more or less jobs are available   over time. The chart above shows "total employment" which includes both full and part-time jobs. A slow but steady increase in the employment level is indicated by the upward trend of the columns. Overall job growth during the period was 100.2% or 3.23% annually. This compares with the statewide value of 103.6% or 3.44% annually.

Chart 4: Population, 1969-1999

Chart 4 shows the population for Albany county. Population rose steeply in the late 1970's, leveled off in the 1980's and has declined slightly in the 1990's. The reasons for the population changes are possibly related to University of Wyoming attendance and associated staff support. In 1999 Albany population was 29,060. Population in Albany county grew 11.30% or 0.37% annually for the period covered.
