   Chart 3: Total Employment, 1969-1999

Chart 3 highlights employment in Washakie County. Employment is one of the most commonly used measures of health in a community. It gives a quick snap shot of the percentage of the population working and whether more or less jobs are available   over time. The chart above shows "total employment" which includes both full and part-time jobs. Job growth grew somewhat in the 1970's with the energy boom and then declined in the 1980's.  Employment has recovered during the 1990's. Overall job growth during the period was 54% or 1.8% annually. This compares with the statewide value of 104% or 3.2% annually

Chart 4: Population, 1969-1999

Chart 4 shows the population for Washakie county. Population peaked in 1982 at 10,140 residents and declined slightly until 1989. In the 1990's, the population has increased slightly to 8,541 residents in 1999. Overall, population in Washakie county grew 14.1% or 0.45% annually for the period covered.
