profession faces some interesting challenges and opportunities. The
current discussion by the AAEA relating to a possible name change give
each of us pause to think about the future of the profession. At the
same time, job opportunities in agricultural economics and agribusiness
seem to be relatively plentiful with relatively few graduates to fill
those positions. Land and water use issues, the continued globalization
of agricultural markets, and major structural changes in agriculture
demand such as the expansion of ethanol production provide a wide range
of issues into which we are uniquely qualified to provide insight." |
